100% AI-Free

I feel like a lot of people are getting sick of looking for things online, and having their time wasted by sites filled with AI-generated garbage. If you think of your time as one of the most precious things you have, having somebody waste it is frustrating, at best.

I’m predicting there will be more and more backlash against this from people sick of dealing with this stuff. I wouldn’t expect much from any of the major search engines right now, but there might be a wonderful opening for a new one that deliberately ignores these sites.

While I think generative AI has some uses, writing content for readers shouldn’t be one of them. Form letters and such, sure. Fair enough. Generating a summary of material for yourself? That’s your business. But writing material you expect others to seriously read? That’s disrespectful.

People might protest, “Oh, but I do proofread it.”. Do you? Seriously? I don’t know about you, but at least for me, proofreading something with due attention is more work than writing it from scratch. I’m doubtful that people’s AI prompted material really gets that level of attention.

Beyond the full-on generation tools, I would recommend also abstaining from other, more assistive tools. Why, you might ask. Because that way, you can honestly tell your readers that the work is 100% AI-Free. Not 90% free. Not 95% free. 100% free.

Writing is, in many ways, an act of love to your readers. Do you respect your readers? Do you want them to respect your work? Then it seems perfectly fair to put in the time and write something worth reading.
