I haven’t posted anything in a while, it’s true. We superheroes, much like everyone else, often get sidetracked by life. However, I feel obligated to at least give some idea of the things I’ve been up to, exciting and mundane.
I’ve made it a point this Spring of fixing up things around the Fortress of Diplomacy that are sorely in need of it. I’m getting radon mitigation done in the basement. I’ve replaced a bed on its last legs. I took a car in for services that were long overdue (and expensive). I replace a refrigerator that was leaking. So yes, busy times.
I’ve also kicked my Chinese studies into high gear. It’s still slow going, but it’s a lot of fun. Now if only I could pronounce their “r” sound halfway competently.
I’m also steadily learning new Russian. I’ve decided to integrate some Scripture into my studies, in addition to text from videogames and such. My goal is to see if I can’t memorize Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount in its entirety, in both Russian and English. I’m expecting to spend about a year on that project.
Finally, I continue to work on my reading list. Some of the books are a lot thicker than others. I’m about halfway through Yolen’s folktales book. I’m not even a 10th of the way through Arabian Nights though. That book is gigantic. But it is entertaining. I’m making a special point of taking notes as I go along, that I might potentially share later.
